Doing Things

Dealing with this health scare has made me think about a lot of different things. I realized how much more organized I need to be, as well as what things I need to eliminate from my life. Of course, there is the other side to that, which is what things do I need to add to my life. What things am I not doing that I want to be doing?

It’s time to start planning some small trips as long as this bloodwork comes back and confirms the liver disease is not worse. There’s quite a few historical sites I’ve been wanting to check out that I need to make a priority.

I’m creating more space for the things I want to do instead of the things I feel like should do, or have always done. It’s sorta like the Buddhist story about the academic coming to learn about Buddhism from a monk. The monk as him if he wants tea and begins filling his cup. As the liquid reaches the rim, the monk does not stop, but keeps pouring spilling tea everywhere. The academic is screaming at him asking what he is doing and the monk replies, “How can you learn something new when your cup is already full?”
